  • November 5th
    OnStage Playhouse announces open auditions for Bus Stop, written by William Inge, directed by Robert Cervantez.

    A bus out of Kansas City pulls up to a cheerful roadside diner in the middle of a howling snowstorm. A dance hall girl on the bus has been kidnapped by a Montana cowboy who wants to marry her.

    Roles are available for five males and three females. Bo is late 20's, tall and athletic. Virgil is late 40's, Bo's father figure, plays guitar. Dr. Lyman is 40's-50's, an alcoholic professor. Will, late 30's is the strong, level-headed local sheriff. Carl, 40, is the bus driver. Cherie, mid-20's, is the dance hall girl fancied by Bo. Grace, late 30's and lonely, runs the diner. Elma, a waitress, must play innocent 17.

    Auditions will be by cold reading from the script and held at the theatre, located at 291 Third Avenue, Chula Vista. Resumés and head shots are helpful, but not required. Performs January 11 through February 9, 2001. For further information, leave a message on the box office, 619/422-7787.

    Legoland Californiais holding auditions for Let It Snow. Vocal/dance audition slots are available by appointment at 760/918-5388. Children (9-to-14) will audition 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm; adults will audition 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Everyone must bring sheet music for one song of 16 bars and prepare a one-minute monologue. Be prepared to dance. An accompanist will be provided (no tapes, please!). All performers should send pictures and resumes by November 7th to: Legoland California Entertainment Department, Attn: Let It Snow Auditions, One Legoland Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008.   • November 12th
    Moonlight Amphitheatre announces open auditions for the final production of the Moonlight at the Avo 2001-2002 Winter Season, Scapino!, written by Moliere; directed by Artistic Director Kathy Brombacher.

    Scapino! is a comedy based upon a farce by Moliere and incorporates elements of comedia dell arte and improvisational physical comedy. Physical strength and agility is required for all roles. The show calls for six leading roles for men and three leading women, ages 20 to 55. Additional men and women are needed to play waiters/gymnasts.

    Auditions will be held beginning at 7:00 pm at the Brengle Terrace Park Senior Center, Vista. Actors should come prepared with a one-minute comic monologue, memorized. If applicable, bring guitar to play, gymnastic specialties and/or juggling equipment. Auditions are open to all non-Equity actors, ages 18 and over. Actors should bring two non-returnable copies of their headshot and resume. Gas stipends ranging from $300 to $800 are offered for all roles.
